Hi have recently started getting the following error message when setting up new accounts with Outlook The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.

Points to note are that OWA works fine, and previous users who are already setup work fine also. It seems to be limited to setting up new Outlook accounts. Recently i did add a second mail server to the network but it was not configured to talk to the other main mail server which was handeling all the functions of mail box, CAS, hub transport.

I had installed all the same roles on the second server with a view to move it across and retire the old server, the second machine is a different machine name from the main mail server. I am running exchange SP1 on Windows R2 x I am really stuck now and would really appreciate any pointers or steps to debug the above. Many thanks, Chris. Post : 1. RE: The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable RunspaceId : 0dc9ce5ddbfbb5eba Server : GeneratingMailbox : Local ObjectState : Unchanged.

Restart the Mailbox Assistant service on the server and see if the files are regenerated and that whenchanged date is updated and try to download the OAB from Outlook. When did this start? I see you have another thread open with issues. How did you "delete the related vm completely and recovered the exchange to last available verson 'cu7". Did it ever work? Was problem solved after reinstall the whole forest?

I can send and receive emails just fine. However, when I try to add a new item to my calendar or contacts and try to save it I get the message, The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.

Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action. Also, I am able to edit existing calendar items just fine. What could be causing this issue with the calendar and contacts, but not email -- even though I seem to be connected just fine.

Other users with Outlook connecting to the same exchange server do not have this problem. Friday, February 5, PM. Schorr 0. Are you using Outlook in cached mode? I wonder if perhaps your OST file is corrupted.
